Defeat Anime RNG Merge Units: What Merging Does, What It Consumes, and How to Confirm It Worked

Merging raises a unit's level in Defeat Anime RNG. What a merge consumes, what the merge panel requires, and how to confirm the merge worked on your unit.

Merging is the action that raises a unit's level in Defeat Anime RNG — the game's own description lists "Merge animes to level them up!" among its core features. A merge consumes other units: the merge panel's rule reads "Level up units by sacrifice units of the same level," and the panel can also offer exclusive essence as an alternate input. You confirm a merge by checking the unit afterward — the level on its card should actually be higher.

What merging does

Merging exists to level units up. That is the official effect stated in the game's Roblox description, and the same feature list appears on both the UPD 7 and UPD 8 listings. It names no location, quantities, or eligibility — those requirements live in the merge panel itself, which is why the panel's own wording is what to read.

What a higher level changes on a unit's stats is its own question; the unit levels reference separates what leveling does from what it doesn't.

What a merge consumes

The merge panel states its input rule directly: "Level up units by sacrifice units of the same level." You pay for the level-up with units, and the units you sacrifice are consumed by it.

The panel can also offer exclusive essence as an alternate input. Early on, though, a duplicate copy of the unit is the practical input — exclusive essence may be out of reach. Essence drops and merchant stock can differ between players, so read your panel: it shows the exact requirement for your unit when you open it.

How to confirm the merge worked

A merge is only the action; the result has to appear in the thing the action was meant to change — the unit's state, here its level. Note the unit's current level before you sacrifice anything. After the merge, open the unit again: the same unit should display the higher level. If the level did not move, the merge did not take.

The same principle applies to the requirements themselves. When the live panel shows a requirement that differs from a guide you remember — a different input, a different cost — use the live requirement. Costs, eligibility and recipes are exactly the values that can move between versions.

Merging is not the Evolution stand

Don't confuse merging with the Evolution stand in the Plaza. The stand upgrades a unit into a stronger form — Gobu becomes Gobu (Super) — and it works as a place you visit: walk up to the stand, pick the unit, and confirm the evolution, and the card name updates on the spot. That interaction changes the unit's form and name; merging is the action tied to levels. So a renamed card at the Plaza stand is not a merge result, and the stand is not where you go to level a unit up.

For where merging fits in the rest of the loop — rolling units, fighting bosses, unlocking zones — the main guide maps each step to its reference.
